Frequently asked questions
How do I know a prescription wasn't forged?
Every prescription is HMAC-SHA256 signed, and the system verifies the signature on arrival — one that was altered after signing won't verify. You also know the prescribing doctor was credentialed before their account was activated.
What if we don't stock what the doctor prescribed?
You can reject with a documented reason, or suggest an allowed generic alternative — but it must be approved by the prescribing doctor before you dispense. You can't substitute unilaterally.
Can two staff accidentally dispense the same script at once?
No. Dispensing is an atomic transaction with a row-level lock — one succeeds, the other gets a clear error. Idempotency keys add a second layer of protection.
What happens if our facility license expires?
Dispensing is automatically hard-blocked until the license is renewed and re-verified, with advance notice from the license and inventory sweeps.
Can we manage controlled substances?
Controlled substances are flagged in the catalog, and every dispense of one emits a dedicated audit event, so the trail is always complete.
What if we need to correct a dispensing record?
Records are append-only. A correction creates a new record referencing the original — nothing is silently deleted.
